Release v1.1.1 - DNS Duplicates & Performance Overhaul

This release introduces significant improvements to the system's perceived
performance and a new tool for administrators to manage duplicate records.

    🚀 What's New?

    🛠️ Duplicate Record Management (Admin)

    • Intelligent Detection: New "Duplicates" section that automatically
identifies records with identical values across all managed zones.
    • Ignore Action: Ability to hide known or intentional duplicates with
      persistence in the database.
    • Reset Ignores: Global mechanism to restore and re-audit hidden duplicates.

    ⚡ Performance & UX

    • Asynchronous Loading: The Records and Duplicates pages now load
instantly. Heavy processing has been moved to an asynchronous backend.
    • Skeleton Loaders: Pulsing placeholders have been introduced to provide
visual feedback while data loads, eliminating "stuck" screens and improving
      user experience.
    • New Counters: Immediate visibility of total duplicate groups and ignored
      records directly in the header.

    📝 Audit

    • All actions performed to ignore or reset duplicates are now logged in the
Audit Log, including details about the value and processed hash.

    🐞 Bugfixes & Stability

    • Template Engine Fix: Added the seq function to the FuncMap to ensure
correct rendering of repetitive UI elements like skeleton rows.

🚀 v1.0.3 — UI Enhancements for DNS Records

This release focuses on presenting a cleaner and more readable interface when managing DNS records, accompanied by related documentation updates.

    ✨ New Features & Improvements

    • UI Enhancements: The Records list now displays short/abbreviated subdomain names by default in the Name column, omitting the repetitive zone domain for a cleaner look. The full FQDN remains accessible via a mouse tooltip (hovering).
    • Consistent Apex Representation: Apex records are now explicitly and uniformly represented as @ in the list.
    • Documentation: Updated the CHANGELOG.md file to reflect these recent usability changes.

    🛠️ How to Update

    1. Pull the latest docker image or rebuild the binary.
    2. No new database migrations or configuration changes are required for this patch release.

    🚀 v1.0.2 — Audit Log Overhaul & Improvements

This release brings a complete overhaul to the Audit Log, ensuring greater visibility into DNS record changes and targeted zones, along with crucial bug fixes regarding wildcards and reverse proxy IP extraction.

    ✨ New Features & Improvements

    • Audit Log Refresh: Overhauled the audit log interface and backend to explicitly denote the targeted Zone Name natively using a LEFT JOIN on the zones cache.
    • Granular Change Tracking: Audit entries now exhibit deep, granular before -> after comparisons precisely showcasing the changed payloads in DNS edits (instead of raw AWS outputs), and securely retain full record properties on deletions.
    • UI Enhancements: Added visual feedback (loading spinners) on Record Create, Edit, and Delete actions to indicate processing state, improving the overall user experience.

    🐛 Bug Fixes

    • AWS Route53 Wildcards: Implemented octal unescaping for values coming from Route53. Special symbols and wildcard prefixes (*) now correctly display their ASCII counterparts instead of raw byte strings (e.g., \052).
    • Reverse Proxy IP Extraction: Fixed incorrect client IP logging when running the server behind a reverse proxy (e.g. Ingress Nginx) by properly inspecting the X-Forwarded-For and X-Real-IP headers.

    🛠️ How to Update

    1. Pull the latest docker image or rebuild the binary.
    2. No new database migrations or configuration changes are strictly required for this patch release.

    🚀 v1.0.1 — LDAP POSIX Support & Improvements

This release significantly enhances LDAP compatibility, adding support for POSIX-style groups (memberUid) and introducing new tools to simplify configuration.

    ✨ New Features

    • LDAP POSIX Groups Support: Added compatibility with RFC 2307 directories. You can now use the group_filter configuration to support memberUid attributes (common in OpenLDAP/Linux environments).
    • Auto-Configuration Tool: Included a new script (scripts/generate_ldap_config.sh) that:
      • Automatically detects your LDAP server type (Active Directory vs OpenLDAP vs POSIX).
      • Validates user logins and group memberships in real-time.
      • Generates a ready-to-use configuration snippet for config.yaml.
    • Documentation: Added a comprehensive troubleshooting guide (doc/LDAP_DEBUGGING.md) for authentication issues.

    🐛 Bug Fixes

    • LDAP Search: Improved the group search logic to correctly handle dynamic user/DN substitution with custom filters.
    • Build: Fixed an issue where the system version was not correctly injected during the Docker build process.

    🛠️ How to Update

    1. Pull the latest docker image or rebuild the binary.
    2. (Optional) Run ./scripts/generate_ldap_config.sh if you need to re-configure your LDAP settings.

    v1.0.0 — Initial Release

We are excited to announce the first public release of NS116, an open-source, self-hosted web interface for managing AWS Route53 DNS records.

NS116 is designed for engineering teams that need a fast, secure, and collaborative way to manage DNS without giving direct AWS console access to everyone.

    🚀 Key Features

    • Highway UI Identity: A distinct, high-contrast visual style inspired by road infrastructure, prioritizing legibility and function.
    • PostgreSQL Backend: Built for reliability and concurrency, using a robust SQL backend for users, sessions, and audit logs.
    • Multi-User & RBAC: Create multiple accounts with admin (full access) or editor (record management only) roles.
    • Granular Caching: Reduces AWS API costs and latency by locally caching zone data (5-minute TTL).
    • Audit Logging: Every action—from login to record deletion—is permanently logged with user attribution and IP address.
    • Single Binary Deployment: All static assets (HTML, CSS, JS) and database migrations are embedded into a single Go binary. No loose files.

    🛠 Infrastructure

    • Docker Ready: Official Dockerfile included for containerized deployment.
    • Kubernetes Manifests: Ready-to-apply YAML files for K8s clusters.
    • Secure by Default:
      • CSRF protection on all forms.
      • Secure session management.
      • Strict input validation.

    📦 Quick Start

    Using Docker:

    docker run -p 8080:8080 \
      -e DB_DSN="postgres://user:pass@host:5432/ns116" \
      -v ./config.yaml:/app/config.yaml \
      ghcr.io/rda-run/ns116:v1.0.0

    Building from source:

    git clone https://github.com/rda-run/ns116.git
    cd ns116
    make build
    ./ns116

    📝 Configuration

Copy config.yaml.example to config.yaml and set your:

    1. Database DSN (PostgreSQL connection string)
    2. AWS Credentials (Access Key & Secret)

This is the first stable release. Please report any issues on the [https://github.com/rda-run/ns116/issues](Issue Tracker).
